How Palm Vein Payment Authentication Works

Palm vein payment authentication combines two processes that traditionally require separate devices: biometric identity verification and PCI-certified payment processing. The Z90NP handles both in a single transaction flow.

When a customer presents their palm above the Z90NP sensor, the near-infrared camera captures the subcutaneous vein structure in real time. This image is matched against enrolled records on the server side — completing identity verification in under 1 second at a matching scale of 1:1,000,000. Once identity is confirmed, the Z90NP processes the payment transaction through its PCI PTS 5.x certified hardware, supporting EMV contact and contactless payments, Paywave, Paypass, NFC, QR code, and magnetic stripe in a single device. Learn how palm vein scanning works
